Jul 18, 2008 - State Confirms Safety of Maine Lobster ConsumptionEarlier today, the Maine CDC and Department of Marine Resources re-issued a health advisory to remind people to consume shellfish safely. In this advisory, Dr. Dora Mills reminds people to discard and not eat the tomalley (“the green stuff”) from lobsters. Dr. Mills clarified this issue today with a personal note: “Lobster is safe to eat, and I hope people are enjoying it as I and my family are,” she wrote. “We are simply reminding people of the long-standing advice to discard and not eat the tomalley - ie the ‘green stuff.’”
